A Cherry Creek cheese shop had its assets seized by the Colorado Department of Revenue last month.<\/p>\n
Truffle Cheese Shop, which opened in 2021, owed $21,471 in back taxes, according to a sign posted on its window at 2906 E. Sixth Ave.<\/p>\n
The store\u2019s utensils, kitchenware, furniture and other equipment \u2014 no actual cheese \u2014 are being auctioned by local firm Dickensheet & Associates. Bidding ends at 2 p.m. Tuesday and items must be removed from the store Wednesday,\u00a0Dickensheet\u2019s website<\/a>\u00a0says.<\/p>\n Howard-Dobbs Real Estate Group is marketing the space for lease.<\/p>\n As of mid-September, the business had shifted sales of its charcuterie and cheese boards solely through its website, according to store owner Lisa Morris.<\/p>\n \u201cThe taxes were (being) filed incorrectly and when it was discovered it snowballed into a bigger issue and debt that was not able to be paid,\u201d Morris said in an email. \u201cThe business is continuing without a storefront for now, but once things are settled we will move forward with a new location.\u201d<\/p>\n
